Cornus alba Elegantissima forms a spreading, suckering shrub for hedges, screens, and mixed borders. Its gray-green leaves have creamy white margins, followed by red fall foliage and blood-red young stems in winter.
Small white flowers appear in May and June. Plant it in full sun or partial shade and keep the soil evenly moist while it establishes.
Remove older stems in late winter to encourage bright red new growth. The berries are slightly toxic to people.
